Rhodes Town makes a good choice as you are so close to both bus stations and getting around the island by bus is simple and cheap. It's certainly not far from Ixia to the Town, but you'd need either a taxi or the bus. There'd be no contest for me – the Town over Ixia any time but that's my opinion of course.
