Bring your own food & drink!Lo-cost Ouigo trains have had the cafe-bar removed and there is no catering whatsoever, even on a 6-hour run between Paris & Nice. So remember to bring your own food & drink – even wine or beer is fine.
Can you buy food on French trains?
All TGVs (except a few very short-distance ones such as Lille-Paris) have a café-bar serving hot & cold drinks, sandwiches, a few hot dishes such as quiche or lasagne, small bottles of wine & spirits – see sample menu. The café-bar is located in the centre of the train between the 1st & 2nd class.
Is there a buffet car on OUIGO trains?
To cater for more passengers, OUIGO trains don't have a buffet bar, so we recommend you buy drinks and snacks before boarding.
Are there outlets on OUIGO trains?
In certain coaches on a Ouigo train all of the top deck seats have access to power sockets; they're not available at all on the bottom deck. If you don't use the seating plan, it's unlikely that you will be automatically assigned a seat with a power socket.
Can you eat food on the train?
Many train companies have onboard catering facilities. These can include trolley services, counter buffet services and restaurant cars. The longer the journey, the more likely that there will be food and drink available on board. You're always welcome to bring your own food too.
Do French trains have buffet cars?
There is a buffet car on every TGV, where you can buy drinks and light snacks. And the food on the trains is pretty awful at best – and outrageously expensive. You are much better off doing what most people do. Pack a picnic and enjoy it on the train.

However, you can only consume food and beverages purchased in Dining and Lounge Cars in those cars. Personal food and beverages are allowed in the upper level of Superliner Sightseer Lounges.
