You won't often encounter mosquitoes, or at least not much in the bedroom. In areas where regular watering occurs (think tourist complexes with large gardens), they do occasionally appear. In such cases, it's advisable to apply a regular mosquito repellent when you're enjoying your evening on the terrace.

It's generally too dry and not green enough for mozzies in the south of Tenerife, can't remember ever having a problem with them.

The islands of Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and Gran Canaria as well, tend to have more vegetation than Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, which can translate into a greater number of mosquitoes. But this is not always the case and as we said, the situation can be very different between areas of the same island.
