The last hurricane to make landfall as a hurricane was Hurricane Iniki in 1992; it hit Kauai. The last tropical cyclone to make landfall was Hurricane Iselle which made landfall on the Big Island in 2014 as a tropical storm. We have had quite a few close calls in between and up to now.
