Your animal must be identified by an electronic transponder.You may have to bring your own microchip reader when you travel if your pet's microchip does not meet these standards. You must get your pet microchipped before, or at the same time as, their rabies vaccination.
Can I take my dog on holiday in France?
Your dog must be over 12 weeks old before you travel. They must have had the rabies vaccination for at least 21 days before your departure date. When driving in France, French law states that pets are restrained, so bring a crate, fixed grill for your boot, or seatbelt to ensure you all remain safe.
Can I fly my dog to France in-cabin?
If your pet is going to travel with you in the cabin (dogs and cats, weighing less than 8kg / 17lb including the transport bag or container, and guide dogs of any weight) you will need a suitable container. You can carry only one animal per container and per person.
