If you are travelling on LeShuttle, which uses the Channel Tunnel, you stay in your car during the 35 minute journey from Folkestone to Calais. Once your car is loaded onto the deck of its shuttle and your crossing starts, you can leave your car to stretch your legs or use the on board toilets.
How early do you have to arrive for LeShuttle?
Check-in at least 1 hour and not more than 2 hours before your scheduled departure time. If you are travelling with your pet we recommend you arrive at least 90 mins prior to your departure, so you have time to check them into the Pet Receptions building.
Can you go on LeShuttle as a foot passenger?
At LeShuttle we can only allow you to travel in a vehicle – be that your own or as part of a coach trip. You cannot travel as a foot passenger, but you are able to take a bicycle. If you don't need or want to drive your vehicle for your trip, you can travel as a foot passenger on Eurostar.
Can you take food on the Eurotunnel?

What’s it like to be in LeShuttle?
Put your car on a train! We had a great experience crossing and enjoyed the novelty of boarding. It's a short trip with a bit of faff involved with arriving early and clearing customs, but overall we had a good experience and enjoyed having our vehicle to explore. We were even able to board an earlier crossing.

What is not allowed on Eurotunnel?
Vehicles powered by LPG or equivalent flammable gas as well as dual powered vehicles (vehicles fitted with an LPG or equivalent flammable gas tank as an alternative fuel) cannot be accepted for transport by Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, even if: the LPG or equivalent flammable gas tank is empty.
What can you not bring into France?
You cannot take meat, milk or products containing them into EU countries. There are some exceptions for medical reasons, for example certain amounts of powdered infant milk, infant food, or pet food required for medical reasons. Is Eurotunnel claustrophobic?
All very light and airy, no feeling of claustrophobia, you can move around even between carriages when the dreaded shutters come down 😉 apart from blocking my ears at the safety announcements, it was absolutely fine!!! Soooo quick and so much better than the ferry.
Do your bags get checked on Eurotunnel?
Port or Channel Tunnel Operators are permitted to search any public vehicle travelling through their system, and may, where necessary, involve the Police in this process. This includes searching of the Coach itself and all baggage carried on it.
Do you have to declare prescription drugs at Customs France?
All medications should be kept in their original containers. For narcotic medication, individuals can only bring the amount of medication for the duration of their travel. They will declare and present to Customs a written letter from their official MD, providing the dosage and the name of the medication.
