If you miss the first train on which you are booked for any reason, a new ticket must be purchased. 5.2 If delays occur while travelling, you will be allowed to take the next available train(s) to complete your journey. 5.3 Railcard holders travelling on a discounted ticket must carry their Railcard when they travel.
Can I travel in another train if my train is late?
You would be able to use the ticket on the next permitted train. If you want to use a different train operator or a different route you would have to get the ticket endorsed at the ticket office. If the delay is their fault they would revalidate the ticket for a different train and / or route.
What if I get on the wrong train?
If you travel on the wrong train with an advance ticket for any other reason you are liable to pay the fare that would have had to pay if you had bought a ticket at the station immediately before starting the journey – including a railcard discount if you had bought the advance ticket with one.

You may get refund from railways by filing TDR (ticket deposit receipt) as per extant rules citing reasons for not travelling. Since chart has been prepared you can't cancel the ticket, you can only file TDR within one hour after departure of the train from charting station.
What happens if you miss connecting train due to delay?
Normally, your reservation is changed to the next connection without any costs, often at the station where you change. The railways are always obliged to propose an alternative without extra costs.
How long does a train have to be delayed for compensation?
If you're delayed and arrive at your destination more than half an hour late, you'll usually be able to get some money back. Some train companies will also give you compensation if your train is more than 15 minutes late.
