Most people do it as a day trip, but we strongly recommend at least two or three nights to get the real Aitutaki experience. You'll find award-winning beaches like the jaw-dropping One Foot Beach, as well as heaps of water sports, perfect places to relax and fascinating cultural performances.

To get into the groove of the island and really recharge, allow at least 7-8 nights on Rarotonga – but you could easily fill 10, 12 or 14 nights with plenty of relaxation and enjoyable diversions. NOT EXPLORING BEYOND THE BUSY HOTEL STRIPS.
Is Aitutaki better than Bora Bora?
Even the more exclusive resorts don't provide the crazy luxurious experience that Tahiti and Bora Bora offer. With that said – the beaches and the water in Aitutaki are more beautiful than in Bora Bora and the cost of a trip to the Cook Islands is significantly lower.
Is it better to stay in Rarotonga or Aitutaki?
For absolute quiet, Aitutaki is the best choice. It also tends to have warmer and sunnier weather. For a wider range of things to do, places to shop (there is almost none of this on Aitutaki) and places to eat, Rarotonga is the most sensible place to go. Why not see both?
