What does no checked baggage mean on Amtrak?
It means they are not going to stow your luggage for you. Whatever you have, you take it on the train and find a secure place for it in the overhead bins or under your seat. You will be fine with a carry on and a suitcase each.

Are you guaranteed a seat on Amtrak?
Unless specific seats are assigned, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Seat availability is not guaranteed until we provide you with a reservation confirmation. Seating arrangements will be made without regard to race, color, gender, creed or national origin.
